What dystopian universe exists in which human beings can merely allege wrongdoing and have another’s life ruined without any form of due process? This one. An uncivilized people waste no time in circling the waters once the prospect of blood has been raised. The elite, who believe themselves elevated because of their intelligence and power, partake in this sadistic game, wasting no time in throwing others under the bus for the promise of even the most minuscule gains. The commoner gains disproportionate power in their endeavor to bring down those unlike them through simple allegation. Finally, the actual process of law and justice is never conducted as popular opinion goes looking for victims, regardless of truth. If this doesn’t sound frightening, you must be aloof to the shifting reality of the world around us. Innocence is presumed false and guilt known to be true.
The most egregious error of human thinking is that the world must be fair; that life must be fair. Equality does not exist; it never will. DNA and chromosomes uniquely dictate what an individual can or cannot be. Religions will fight each other to the death. So on and so forth. Any train of thought that suggests that parity can be reached between any two groups of individuals is false. For that matter, any notion that equality between two individuals can be reached is also false. There will always be an inequality and a disparity of power. Whether an individual is atheist, transgender, homosexual, black, or any other characteristic that brings upon an inherent dearth of power should not matter. What does matter is leaving the herd that fights for equality composed of selfish individuals and charting one’s own path with their own power; their own selfishness.
I plan to return to the ‘What is Psychopathy?’ arc tomorrow.
The nature of discourse is tricky. There are many voices all that wish to be heard and few have the influence or power to actually be heard over the throng. Often, competition arises among the voices and the message itself becomes lost. This is true in any arena. Consider, for instance, the state of politics in America. Free speech is free, but not without consequence they say. We become so entrapped in who can bellow loudest or condemn the greatest and objective eyes and ears are blinded and silenced. Discourse fails as power is exerted as a proxy for insight and knowledge.
I suppose that with power comes a responsibility to remain objective – if a desire for learning and contribution is held paramount. And, this responsibility applies to all in the conversation. Each voice has its own power. Some may hold more than others, but each tongue holds insight and captivates audiences in a fashion that others cannot. Whether it is the water-cooler discussion or the packed auditorium, all should strive to remain objective and truthful toward that which they wish to convey their experiences and insight.
